Cesar Millan Critics

Cesar Millan is the most widely known dog trainer right now. His show on the National Geographic channel has given him the center stage in the public opinion of dog training and obedience.

Now don’t get mad at me but their are a lot of professional dog training experts that are not Cesar Millan fans. “Some of the (Dog Whisperer) tactics are, quite frankly, inhumane and inappropriate,” says Marie Belew Wheatley the president of the American Humane Association. She also requested that the National Geographic Channel should replace The Dog Whisperer with programming that presents more current positive techniques.

Haha, Inhumane? Ok well they can say what they want to, but they are just going to have to suck it up. The dogs that Cesar treats, are much happier when he leaves than they were before.

These so called experts may be jealous, perhaps?

I have never seen anything Cesar has done that seem “inhumane” or “inappropriate”, maybe it will look that way to someone who doesn’t understand how dogs function mentally. A dog would be much harsher when correcting another dog who is unbalanced. What Cesar is doing is child’s play, comparatively.

This man knows what he is doing, end of story.

Some dogs need to know that you can overcome/kill them in order to respect you. They don’t care about “humane” techniques. Wolves and dogs bite each other for pete’s sake.

I don’t see how his techniques are inhumane, in most cases on the show the dogs are of the mentality that they are superior to their owners and that’s why their behavior is sometimes a problem. I have a chocolate lab and she is such a huge part of my life and she is like my best friend, but she is still a dog. I believe any training that doesn’t involve violence or any kind of physical or verbal abuse is positive and appropriate. I have never seen him mistreat an animal on the show. Why are people against treating their pets as animals? Look at PETA, their name is People for the Ethical Treatment of ANIMALS. I would never condone violoence against an animal, and if you watch the show they always say never to try that stuff on your own. I think this also falls into the topic about how the T.V. is not your babysitter. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. The show is meant to be informational but most of all it’s entertainment! The show is not a certified training video. I don’t regularly watch his show but from what I have seen, he isn’t really pushing an agenda like the American Humane Association is. Sure he has probably sold a few books but you can tell he loves animals, I’m not saying the AHA doesn’t, but there is such a thing as taking something too far, in my opinion. There’s my 2 cents.
